The TRINITY is the Christian doctrine that ONE God exists as THREE PERSONS: The Father, the Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.
It's a concept in Christianity explaining how God is BOTH one and three Persons that is sometimes misunderstood.
It is revealed throughout scripture from GENESIS to REVELATION despite the word "Trinity" not appearing in the Bible.
KEY ASPECTS of the Trinity:
- ONE GOD in Three Persons: There is only ONE God, not three separate gods. God's single divine essence is expressed in three distinct Persons.
- Co-EQUAL & Co-ETERNAL: The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are equally divine, powerful and glorious. Existing together eternally.
- NOT Modes or Parts: It's not one God appearing in three different masks or three parts of God; they are DISTINCT Persons who interact with each other.
- BIBLICAL Foundation: While the word "Trinity" isn't in the Bible, the doctrine is built from scriptural passages: the divinity of the Father (NIV John 6:27), the Son (NIV John 1:1-3) and the Holy Spirit (NIV Acts 5:3-4).
